Group of 3 pinnacles in garden to
north of Barnwood Court

GV II

Group of three pinnacles. c1350. Ashlar. Pinnacles of
identical design; square plan with offset chamfered plinth to
plain shafts rising into a crowning gablet on each face; the
arrises of the shafts and the eaves of the gablets decorated
enriched with ball flower moulding; on each corner at the base
of adjoining gablets a boldly projecting carved gargoyle.
Three of the four corner pinnacles removed from the tower of
Church of St Mary de Crypt, Southgate Street (qv) in 1907 and
set up at the corners of a rectangular paved area on the west
side of the garden of Barnwood Court.
