7/29 Ingledene and Martindale
GV II
2 houses. Circa C18 extended in early C19. Slate stone rubble, partly rendered and
partly slate hung above ground floor on front elevation. Rag slate roof, cement
washed on front (Ingledene) and hipped end to rear wing (Martindale). Brick stacks
on gable ends.
Original plan possibly that of 1 house with 2 room and central entrance plan (now
part of Ingledene) with unheated rear wing to left (part of Martindale). Extended on
right hand gable end with further range of 2 room single depth plan.
2 storeys. Overall 5 window front. Ingledene to left has a symmetrical 3 window
front with 2 replacement 12-pane horned sashes flanking a central part glazed 4-panel
door and C20 brick gabled porch. Slate hung above ground floor with 3 early C19 12-
pane hornless sashes with exposed sash boxes. Asymmetrical elevation to 2 storey
extension on right with openings partly altered. Rear wing now part of Martindale,
of 2 storeys with an entrance in the right hand side elevation. C20 glazed porch
with gable end and 2-light casement to right. First floor has an early C18 12-pane
sash window with heavy glazing bars which has been possibly reused in half dormer
window with raking roof.
Interior not inspected.
Important elevation to unspoilt street in centre of Boscastle village.
