Former parish workhouse. 1770-71 by James Paine, heightened and porch probably added
1804. Stucco faced, slate roof. 4 storeys, basement and dormered mansard. 5
windows wide. Central enclosed stucco porch with Doric piers (of c.1804) contains
square headed doorway with 6 panel door and fanlight. Square headed recessed glazing
bar sashes of graduated heights and widely spaced. Plat band and sill band to 1st
floor, cornice and pedimental blocking course. Area railings with flambé torch
finials.
