front of Hawthorn Hall.

End piers, wing walls, gate piers and gates: piers late C17, wing
walls late C19, gates C20. Ashlar buff sandstone and blue and orange
brick wing walls. End piers have chamfered rusticated bodies on low
moulded plinths. Projecting moulded capstones have carved leaves on
the underside and carry pine cone finials with a base of acanthus.
Low curving wing walls have a shaped bulbous stone coping. Gate piers
are similar but have no plinth, heavier capstones and have lost their
finials. Between are a pair of C20 wrought iron gates with dogbars.
