Barns. Late C16. Formed part of Robert Gostwick's Warden Abbey complex.
Variety of brick, mostly red, some yellow, with some diaper patterning. Some
2 inch brickwork. Some stone dressings. Clay tile roofs. L-plan, large barn
to W and long lower barn to E. W barn: 2-stage angle buttresses with stone
dressings. Entrance to W elevation has been altered and repaired. E
elevation has plank door, with smaller buttress to L. 5-bay roof structure
has tenoned purlins on 2 levels, with 2 rows of curved wind braces, and
collars and queen struts. Gable ends at roof level are weatherboarded. E
barn: variety of openings to S elevation, somewhat altered and repaired, the
double plank doors to RH breaking through the eaves level. 6-bay roof
structure has 2 levels of clasped purlins with collars and struts, and some
curved wind braces. E gable end at roof level is rendered.
