Steps and parapets with
lamps at west end

Steps with flanking parapets surmounted by lamps terminating west end of street
and leading down to St James's Park. c1873 part of Sir George Gilbert Scott's
Foreign Office, Whitehall, q.v., but as they associate with the Park,
composition may be by Mathew Digby Wyatt. Broad York stone flight of steps with
landing, flanked by Portland stone parapets; the latter have highly ornate
pierced scrollwork Italianate carving beneath the coping; dies surmounted by
ornamental wrought iron lamps.
