The Village Hall
GV II
1849. One storey. 3 windows. Red brick and grey headers. Tiled roof. Projection
at south end of west front with gable over decorated with crosses and a finial and a
large pointed window of 3 lights. Other windows modern. Originally the Village
School. Built by the Rev R R Tatham, who was Rector of Dallington from 1848-1893,
but the foundation stone was laid in July 1849 by his predecessor, the Rev George
Wagner, then Perpetual Curate of St Stephen's Church, Brighton, who had been
resident Curate in charge at Dallington from 1842 and had started the first school
there in his own house, now the Old Rectory.
