Holywell farmhouse,

Farmhouse, byre and carthouse. Late C17; alterations dated 1774 over door.
Roughly-coursed sandstone with quoins and ashlar dressings. Roof C20 tiles and
stone flags with stone gable copings and stone and brick chimneys. 2 storeys;
farmhouse at left has 4 windows, byre at right has 3; one-storey, one-bay pent
left extension and right cart-house. House with quoins at right keyed into
byre, has door in plain stone surround in second bay; door lintel incised TM
1774. Similar surrounds to 6-pane sashes in horizontal windows, one above door.
Byre at right has flat-Tudor-arched head to door in first bay; stop-chamfered
jambs; chamfered square-headed surround to door at right; 3 small square boarded
openings above have flat stone sills and lintels. Keyed segmental-headed
surround to vehicle entrance with boarded doors in right extension under flat-
stone-coped stepped parapet descending from left to right. House roof has end
chimneys; copings rest on curved kneelers. Stone-flagged roof on left extension.
Rear elevation shows stair tower with intersecting tracery in round-headed
window; flanking outshuts; side steps to wide loft door under wood lintel.

Interior: wide segmental-arched chamfered chimney opening; dog-leg stair with
ramped handrail on wide stick balusters; half landing; 2-panel doors with central
bead and original H hinges; door from kitchen to main room has pegged moulded
frame holding 8 panels.

On grass verge in front of house are stone steps of which the bottom one seems
to be a re-used lintel incised T J M.
