of Steps, immediately to north-

Retaining wall and central flight of steps. Probably C17. Rubble base
approximately 10-12 feet high; balustraded parapet; panelled pedestals with urn
finials. Off-centre flight of 19 steps; ashlar balustraded sides with moulded
cornice and panelled end piers. (Country Life: 4, 24.XII.1898; 13, 18.IV.1903;
20, 24.XI.1906; 20, 1.XII.1906.).
