(Seaham Dene) railway station

House, former private railway station. Dated 1875. Rendered red and white brick,
moderate-pitched Welsh slate roof with decorative cut files at ridges. T-plan
with single-storey 3-bay facade, short projecting rear wing and enclosed porch in
re-entrant angle to right. Chamfered plinth. Projecting gabled central bay has
blocked door and flanking lancets with triangular heads in decorative hooded
lintels, shield with datestone above and pierced bargeboards with central newel
and pendants. Single flanking bays have 2-light windows with stop-chamfered mullions
and reveals, projecting sills and similar decorative lintels. 2-bay right return
has two similar 2-light windows. Porch has 6-panel door with chamfered jambs.
Overhanging hipped roof with 2 corniced ridge stacks on square plinth.

C20 addition to rear not of special interest.
