5/100 Brick Kiln House

House, formerly farmhouse, mid C16, restored c.1980. 3-cell lobby-entrance
plan, 2 storeys and attics. Timber-framed and rendered. Pantiled roof, hipped
at right-hand end, with axial chimney of red brick. Casements and gabled
plaintiled entrance porch with boarded door c.1980. Back-to-back open
fireplaces to hall and parlour. Twin service rooms at right-hand end, now
joined, each with arch-headed doorway into the hall. Clasped purlin roof.
Attic floor inserted over parlour chamber C17; formerly hipped roof converted
to gable for headroom. Evidence throughout for diamond-mullioned unglazed
windows with sliding shutters.
