Town house and outbuildings. Late C16 with later additions.
Timber-frame with plaster infill on rubble plinth, and brick,
some painted; tile roof, with brick stacks. 4-unit cross-wing
plan.
Single storey plus attic and 2-storey cross-wing to right.
Entrance to left of centre has original studded with strap
hinges and ring-handle in moulded frame; C20 garage door to
right end. Entrance flanked by small 2-light windows, 3-light
mullioned window to right; 1st floor has paired gabled dormers
each with 3-light windows, gable end has 4-light window with
higher 2-light window to left; single-storey range to left has
3 large 3-light transomed windows; all windows are leaded.
Coachhouse to left end has paired doors and battened door to
return. 2 brick stacks to rear of ridge, one with cluster of
diagonal shafts.
Right return has jettied 1st floor over exposed soffit
timbers; the projecting 2-storey gabled porch is probably
later, and has open sides and 3-light return windows; 2
entrances, one with leaded overlight to sliding door, one in
heavy moulded frame with original battened door; small-paned
window and 2 windows with 10/5-pane sashes.
Rear has high stone plinth; gabled wing with jettied 1st floor
and dragon beam to each corner, gabled dormer to right,
2-light leaded windows to ground floor, 4-light window to
gable with 3-light window above; gabled right return has
gabled re-entrant stair wing next to French window; range to
right has brick and stone with timber-framed upper part;
entrance with heavy moulded frame and external stack with
stone quoins, lean-to outshut to right end.
Left return service range, part of the Hall's Croft (qv)
service buildings, has single-storey block with entrances, one
battened door; c1900 two-storey, 3-window, end range has two
2-storey bay windows with leaded glazing to recessed left end.
INTERIOR: noted as having open-well staircase with turned
balusters and some panelling. Probably originally service
buildings to the Dower House (qv).
