2 houses, now offices. Late C18 to left (No.3), probably early
C19 to right (No.5). Limestone ashlar; Welsh slate hipped
parapeted roofs; ashlar stacks with moulded tops to right side
of each building, 2 to left (No.3), one to right (No.5).
To left (No.3), 5-bay Palladian villa with 3 bays to centre
broken forward with pediment over; 3-storey 5-window range.
First floor has five 6/6-pane sashes in plain reveals; second
floor has 5 similar 3/6-pane sashes. Ground floor has four
6/6-pane sashes in moulded stone architraves with stone cills.
6-panel door to centre with decorative fanlight in doorcase
with Doric pilasters and open pediment.
Rusticated quoins to ground floor left and right angles;
shallow plinth; band courses over ground and first floors;
cill bands to first and second floors; modillion eaves cornice
and pediment; blocking course.
To right (No.5), 5-bay house with shallow break forward to
centre, 3 bays; 3-storey 7-window range. First floor has five
6/6-pane sashes in plain reveals, to centre flanked by similar
4/4-pane sashes; second floor has five similar 3/6-pane sashes
with stone cills, to centre flanked by similar 2/4-pane
sashes.
Ground floor has four 6/6-pane sashes in plain reveals with
stone cills, to centre Doric portico with 4 columns to front,
respond of 2 pilasters, with applied C20 lettering EWBANK
HOUSE to frieze, with 6-panel door in plain reveal with small
2/4-pane sashes in plain reveals to left and right.
Shallow plinth; band courses over ground and first floors;
cill band to first floor; moulded stone eaves cornice and
coped parapet. 3 has deep plan with rear elevation in coursed
squared limestone with 6/6-pane sashes in flat unmoulded
surrounds; No.5 has 2 storeys and attic rear wing with hipped
roof, shallow bow to rear elevation of main range, 6/6-pane
sashes in flat unmoulded stone surrounds. INTERIOR not
inspected.
