Barn to East of Lower Lewden Farmhouse

Barn, former house and barn. Late C16 and C17 with later
alterations. Coursed rubble and interval timber-framing to east.
Slate roof with 3 ventilator hoods. 2 storey. East gable front
has single doorway to right with plank door. South front has
doorway to left, then 2 small openings plus a boarded window and
a doorway to right, beyond addition has another small opening.
Above to left a 2 light boarded window and to the right a loft
doorway. West gable front has a part blocked east entrance with
a 4 light C20 window, and above a loft opening.

Interior has to east 3 bays of largely complete timber framing
with braces, and smaller braces and collar trusses with over
lapping purlins. Later west addition has simple massive collar
trusses.
