Originally part of Nos 8 and 10. C16 or early C17 altered and extended, early
C19. 2 storeys English bond red brick. Older part is gable end to Alfred
Street with steep pitched, partly tiled and partly pantiled double purlin
roof. Framing pier strips. 1 range of early C19 2 light glazing bar sashes
(lower sashes lack glazing bars); stone frames, inner edges beaded. Projecting
keys. Small lower early C19 extension with hipped pantile roof. Half glazed
doorway to right. At rear, part timber framed with brick infill (rendered)
with possibly re-used wall plate having chamfered end. A similar chamfer
on main beam of large ground floor room. On 1st floor a roughly moulded post
supports a very late mediaeval (C16) arch braced collar truss to roof with
2 rows of wind braces.
