SD 92NW TODMORDEN (former M.B.) BROAD GATE (OFF)

2/48 Greenhurst Hey Old Farmhouse

G.V. II

House of mid C17 origin with early C19 alteration and rear extension. Hammer-
dressed stone, slate roof to front with stone ridge tiles, stone slate roof to
rear. 2 storeys. Hearth-passage plan. Original door to right-hand end has
depressed Tudor arched lintel, with composite jambs and chamfered surround.
Chamfered mullioned windows survive to lst floor. Ground floor detail is mainly
C19 except one window, now sashed, which has chamfered surround. Reads: sashed
window with plain stone surrounds; doorway with monolithic jambs. Doorway with
monolithic jambs; chamfered window possibly originally of 5 lights. 3 stacks to
ridge. One other stack to rear added cell at right angles.
