ST 77 NE TORMARTON C.P. BACK STREET (north side)

6/237 Box Cottage

House. Mid C18 with later alterations and additions. Limestone ashlar front
and addition to left, rubble with stone dressings, slate roof with gable stacks.
2 storeys and 3 windows, all sashes, first floor central window blocked and
painted in, central Doric portico with pediment, C20 door; plinth, band course,
cornice, parapet and coping. Early C19 2-storey block attached to left with
hipped roof, 18-pane sash at ground floor, sash under eaves, single storey addition
with pitched roof attached, 2-light casement. Left return has C20 attic window
to main house, C20 window at ground and first floor of additions. Right return
has 2-light attic casement with flat mullion, 2-storey rear addition has C20
ground and first floor window. Rear has 3 windows, all C20. Interior: not
inspected.
