Farmhouse. Mid C17 rear wing, dated 1734, later C17 front with C19 alterations
and additions, C20 alterations. Rubble, rendered, double Roman tiled roof, gable
stacks, slate roofed addition to right. T-plan with C19 front porch. 2 storeys
with 2-storey porch, 1:1:1 windows, ground floor has two 9-pane sashes with
central 4-panelled and glass door, first floor has two 6-pane sashes and central
9-pane sash. Left return has ground floor 9-pane sash and single storey lean-to;
rear wing of 3 storeys and 2 windows, ground floor has C20 casement and 3-light
casement with stone hollow-chamfered mullions, both with timber lintel, first
floor has 2 small C20 casements with timber lintels, 2nd floor has 2-light
casement with leaded lights under eaves. Right return has ground floor 9-pane
sash and first floor 6-pane sash; rear wing has varied windows including first
floor small 2-light casement with stone ovolo mullion and leaded lights, ground
floor has C20 door and.small casement with stone narrow bolection-moulded surround,
single storey former dairy attached has C20 door and window front and rear; rear
of house has first floor C20 3-light casement with timber lintel. Interior: rear
ground floor room has heavy chamfered beam, C19 straight stair with serpentine
splat balusters at 1st floor level, first floor front right room has date plaque,
IIS/1754, possible reset from elsewhere in house, chamfered and run-out stopped
beams; first floor rear room has door with panel over with circular hole and
cover, chamfered and stopped beams, site of former stair, thicker walls to rear
block. 5-bay front roof has principal rafters, 2 rows of purlins, very cambered
collars, purlins sawn through for addition of front porch.
