C17 farmhouse (formerly Falkland Farm) probably of 2 bay, lobby-entrance plan type
on long north/south axis. Later alterations and additions with late C18 south-west
wing. Two storeys. Irregular fenestration. Tiled roofs with hipped and half-
hipped gables. Old central brick stack with a pair of diagonal brick shafts. Red
brick. Stuccoed south-west wing. Segmental-arched sash and casement windows with
glazing bars, and leaded lights to mullioned windows. Venetian window in south-
west wing. Doorway with bracketted hood. Interior with stop-chamfered ceiling
beams to ground floor. Traditionally the farmhouse to which Lord Falkland's body
was removed after the First Battle of Newbury in 1643. Listed II1 for historical
associations.
