Farmhouse. Mid-C18, probably incorporating parts of an earlier building
later additions and alterations. Roughly coursed slate-stone and polyphant
rubble with granite quoins and floor band. Slate roof, hipped to left end
of main range. Basic L-plan with slightly later short range projecting at
right-angles to left. 2 storeys. 3-window front; 16-paned horned glazing
bar sashes with wedged polyphant voussoirs to segmental heads on first floor.
Paired horned glazing bar sashes with similar heads to ground floor plus small
inserted window to left. Central C20 glazed porch over flush 6-panel door
with panelling in place of overlight. Integral end stack to left, external
end stack to right and external end stack to rear on left all with drips and
moulded capping. Right return of projecting range has C20 casement on first
floor and French window directly below. Various lean-tos attached to back
wall of main range. Barn attached to right gable end, is later (straight joint)
and has brick-infilled segmental-headed doorway to left on ground floor with
wedged voussoirs and keystone; window inserted in infilled opening directly
above. Asbestos sheet roof.
Interior: Only partial inspection of house possible at time of resurvey
(December 1987): chamfered cross beams to ground floor of front projection.
Barn has continuous loft and C19 King-post roof in 3 bays.
