Pair of houses. Late C18. Probably for Wesleyan Methodist
Chapel (since demolished) which stood in Wycliffe Chapel Yard,
and was built in 1764. Coursed squared stone with tooled
ashlar dressings; roof of stone slates with stone ridge,
chimneys and gable copings. 2 storeys; 4-window range. Each
house has raised stone surround with impost bands and keys to
central door, the left original but upper panels replaced with
glass. Raised stone surrounds to 4-pane sashes at left with
some glazing bars removed from orinigal, and to 16-pane sashes
at right. Low-pitched roof has end gable copings resting on
moulded kneelers, and end and central transverse ridge
corniced chimneys. Rear has 2-bay central projection, and some
altered door and windows in original surrounds, one window
inserted in door and door in window. INTERIOR: not inspected.
Wycliffe Chapel Yard is one of a number of yards in old
burgage plots off The Bank.
