Former parish church, now redundant. 1876-8 by Paley and
Austin. Snecked sandstone rubble with red tile roofs.
Decorated style. Comprises a tall nave and chancel with
clerestoreys, north and south aisles, south porch, north porch
intended as the base for a tower, south chapel, and north
vestry. The west wall contains 2 windows of 3 lights with
reticulated tracery. The gabled south porch has a moulded
pointed doorway with a carved panel above. The 4 nave
clerestorey windows are of 2 lights and the 2 chancel
clerestorey windows are of 3 lights. All have Decorated
tracery of various descriptions. The south chapel has paired
gables, each with a 2-light window with flat head. The east
window is of 5 lights and has flushwork panels below, of
sandstone infilled with rubble. Interior: 4-bay nave arcades
with octagonal piers, double-chamfered arches, a high moulded
chancel arch, an arch to the north of the chancel and more
richly moulded arches to the 2-bay south chapel. The nave and
chancel with waggon roofs with braced tie beams. Furnishings
removed. Pevsner considered this to be Paley and Austin's best
church in Morecambe.
