GV II

House. Early C19. Rough limestone ashlar with slate roof,
stepped stone coping with moulded kneelers, and brick stacks
with moulded cornices to gable ends and rendered walls to the
sides. Single-depth plan with 3 rear wings.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; symmetrical widely-spaced 3-window range.
A wide 6-panel door with ornamented semicircular fanlight, is
set in a Ham Hill stone classical-style doorcase with a
dentilled cornice to an open pediment supported by engaged
fluted columns. Above this is a round-arched 4/8-pane sash
with intersecting glazing bars to the top, set in a reeded
archivolt with a keystone and imposts; windows to the sides
are 8/8-pane sashes in moulded architraves.
INTERIOR not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: attached to each side are walls,
single-storey height to the outsides, rising in an ogee curve
almost to the eaves; that to the left has a wide segmental
arch to a carriageway; that to the right conceals a
single-storey wing with a 6-panel door below late C19
four/four-pane sash in a moulded architrave. Enclosing the
front garden are late C19 cast-iron railings which curve back
to the door on a Ham Hill stone plinth; the design of these is
based on closely intersecting circles with diamond-shaped
finials and bases. The plinth steps down toward the right
(west) and double gates of similar design give access to the
right wing.
