Circa 1805, formerly the Victoria Rooms and used as Assembly Rooms; rebuilt circa
1875. by J Hiscox. Symmetrical storey facade of 5 bays with slightly projecting
entrance bay and corner pvailions. Hipped slated roof with balustraded parapet;
pavilions with steep ashlar fishtail slate roofs of French type with ornamental cast
iron crestings. Grit stone ashlar. Pavilions with Cornithian pilasters carrying
continuous entablature. Round-arched windows with bays, archivolts and carved
imposts. Cornithian portico in antis with Borough Arms in tympanum of pediments;
arched doorway with fanlight. Interior with 5 bay Assembly Room with coved cornice
and arched windows. At rear the building incorporates early C19 house of 3 storeys
with 3 windows (centved bay blank); slate roof, squared, coursed grit stone rubble;
sash windows with exposed boxing and some glazing bars; recessed doorway with
panelled door.

Nos 31 to 39 (odd) form a group with the return of No 1 Crescent Road.
