Town hall; early C18; well-squared grey Forest stone, regular
coursing, with red Forest voussoirs to arches, capitals and bases
to piers; shingle roof. Three by two bay arcades on ground floor,
2 storey, end on to High Street. Semi-circular arches with plain
voussoirs to arcade on all faces; plain, square piers on chamfered
bases; capitals plain, vertical face above small echinus moulding.
Each stone in capital has vertical furrows on face, stopped by
short length of horizontal furrows at end of stone or corner.
Arches infilled about 1920 to form a club on ground floor. Plain
string course to first floor; 2 windows on sides, 1 street end,
square-headed mullion and transom wooden casements of about 1900.
At back of right-hand return window was originally doorway,
presumably with external steps. Hipped roof, with brick chimney
stack at rear.
