Poor Law Guardians'Hall, now Borough offices. 1837 by Green for Tynemouth Poor Law
Union. Coursed squared sandstone with ashlar dressings; Welsh slate roof with
rendered chimney. Elizabethan style. 2 storeys, 3 x 3 bays. West elevation to
Howard Street has central recessed bay containing double door with mullioned
overlight, and first-floor cross window, under corbel table. Shaped gables over
outer bays with 3-light mullioned-and-transomed ground floor windows, first
floor cross windows, and lancets in gable peaks. Label moulds; first floor
string. Right return to Saville Street in similar style with ball finial on
