1/32 Lower Ellistones Mill

II

Woollen mill, (now derelict), Late C18. Hammer-dressed stone, stone slate roof,
quoins. 3 storeys. Ground floor is altered but has door and windows to stables
which retain cast iron stalls. First floor flat faced stone mullioned windows
of 4, 2, 2, and 4 lights. Second floor has two 4-light windows. Left hand
return has stone steps to entry with taking in door over. Interior has large
single rooms with fireplace at one end. Important survival of early handloom
weaving industry.
