Public house, now house. Mid C17 altered and partly rebuilt C20. Coursed squared
marlstone with some ashlar dressings and some wooden lintels; concrete
plain-tile roof with rebuilt brick stacks. 2-unit cross-passage plan. 2 storeys
plus attic. 3-window front has a central doorway and C20 casements, one
retaining a C17 label mould. Lower C20 range projects on left. Rear, which has a
small projecting wing, retains a further label and a 2-light ovolo-moulded
stone-mullioned cellar window. Interior: Large open fireplace, partly rebuilt,
backing onto cross passage; smaller open fireplace with splayed jambs and
stop-chamfered bressumer; stop-chamfered spine beams; early panelled doors and
window seats. Included for group value.
