2/87 Garden walls to north of
East Hall

GV II

Walls to former kitchen garden. Probably late C18. Cobble, lined with
orange-red bricks in English garden wall bond. U-shaped plan, walls
approximately 3 metres high with flat stone coping. Occasional pilaster
buttresses. In centre of north wall round-arched doorway flanked by
pilasters, which is set in brick panel, breaking forward, on outer side. In
centre of west side wall, later gateway with chamfered stone lintel and
quoins on outer side. Open side of garden is partly filled by later wall,
not of special interest, and brewery (qv). The garden walls are included
for group value.
