Cottage. Late C17 and early C19. Local brick and C19 gault
brick, rear wall partly painted. Plain tile roof. One storey
and attic extended one bay to east. Gable to west with tumbled
brick parapet and end stack, C17 ridge stack, C19 gault brick
gable and stack to east. Chequered brick band at attic floor in
gable, painted in main facade and arched over segmental
openings. Four casement dormer windows, half-glazed,
flush-panelled C19 door and boarded door. Two hung sash windows
one to right hand early C19 with thick glazing bars, later C19
bay window to left hand. Stone plaque in gable inscribed 'Wiles
Cottage'. Interior. Large sealed inglenook hearth in central
room. Ovolo-moulded and stop-chamfered cross-beams. The
cottage was formerly the coachman's house to The Rookery.
