12/6 The Forge


Cottage with attached range, formally forge. C17 refronted C18. Timber-
frame mostly encased in brick and extended, old plain tile roof. 2 bays of
1½ storey frame survive with right bay replaced by 2 bay single storey forge.
In each bay C19 tripartite sash with segmental head, except C20 window to
right. Between centre bays C19 4-panel door with segmental head. In 1½
storey left bays 2-light casements with heads in gabled dormers, and roof
half-hipped to left. At right end gable, abutting it half-hipped roof to
right bays with 2-light gabled dormer on roof. On front wall brick dated
1692 and stone dated 1712 on right end. Inside forge survives.
