Inn now Public House. C16 or earlier altered C18 and later. Timber framed
faced later with brick. Dentil course to part parapet, old tiled hipped
roofs. L-plan, 2 x 2 framed bays. 2 storeys and cellars. Church Street front:
large C17 brick chimney on right hand with rectangular base, offset head and
2 diagonal shafts with offset heads. To left of chimney are 2 upper sash
windows, glazing altered, and 2 doors on ground floor the right hand half
glazed with board pediment hood on cut brackets the left hand with
architrave surround, frieze, brackets and cornice hood. 2 storey half
octagonal bay to the left of this with brick parapet, the upper part with
false timber framing painted infilling, frieze and small cornice, 3 sash windows
with glazing bars, 3-pane in front and 2-pane at sides. High Street front :
Similar parapet. 2 storey angular bay to left, a one storey angular bay at
first floor level on cut brackets with sashes and glazing bars on right hand
and 2-coupled sash windows with glazing bars under at ground floor. Central
door. Interior: 2 large inglenook fireplaces and good quality early timber
frame exposed on ground and first floors.
