Former market house, probably on site of medieval guildhall now
restaurant. Early-mid C19. Stone walls, stuccoed and painted.
Slate roofs, hipped to west. Rendered brick stack on rear
(east) gable. Three storeys, with top storey above a moulded
white cornice, and with the openings blocked. West elevation,
ground floor, shop-fronted with 2 large windows with glazing-
bars (28 panes to each). Plain pilasters with moulded
capitals and bases, plain entablature over with dentil cornice,
C19. Central door, 2-leaf with marginal glazings, C19. First
floor, 2 sashes with thin glazing-bars; second floor, blocked
windows. North elevation: 4 windows, sashes with glazing-bars,
right ground has large fixed window with glazing-bars
(24 panes), pilasters and moulded cornice over. C20 door at
centre.
