Group of eight Paul family monuments in the churchyard approximately 20 metres west of churchyard entry steps

Chest tombs formally organised within stone-kerbed enclosure. Late C17-early C19. Limestone. Large chest tomb described first, followed by east then west rows, finally main tomb at north end. Large chest tomb has narrow moulded trefoil headed lancet panelling to sides and ends, each with moulded panel, inscriptions illegible but probably to Sir George Onesephorus Paul, died 1820; tomb with gadrooned corner balusters inscribed to MARGARET PAUL, date illegible; tomb with plain ends and restored sides, no inscriptions; tomb with corner and side pilasters and heraldic cartouche on west end, inscribed to Francis, Son of Onesephorus and Catherine Paul, dated 1739; tomb with oval side panels and gadrooned enrichment, inscribed to ANNA MERRICK, died 1751; tomb with gadrooned corner balusters and end cartouches, inscribed to -----BROWN, date illegible; and tall tomb with egg and dart and gadrooning to side panels with ovals, inscribed to Sr Onesephorus Paul Bt, died 1774.
