Originally a C16-C17 building but with many alterations and additions of various
dates. The front is mainly early C19 plastered brick, 3 storeys. 3 windows
range, double-hung sashes with margin glazing bars. The 1st storey windows
have moulded stucco architraves and the second storey windows have plain reveals.
No 72A has a C20 shop the interior has some fine moulded ceiling beams, now
covered by a lower C20 ceiling. No 72 has a late C19 or early C20 shop front
with ornamental iron railing above the fascia. Roofs slate. RCHM (15).

All the listed buildings from No 68 to No 80 on the south-east side form a group.
