Farmhouse. Late C16 or C17. Cob, stone plinth, plastered, under gabled-end slate
roof. Formerly a 3-room, through-passage plan, the higher end to the right of the
passage; no evidence of smoke-blackening in roof space; right-hand external end
stack heats inner room; axial stack backing onto passage heats hall; lower end
subsequently lengthened. 2 storeys throughout.
Front: 5-window range, scattered fenestration; 2 and 3-light C19 casement windows
to ground floor; door to former passage under brick, glazed porch with corrugated
iron roof; another door to the left, into the present kitchen. Right-hand end
elevation with small single-light window forward of stack.
Rear: planked door in C18 surround opposes front entrance to passage; brick and
slate lean-to, with C20 fenestration.
Interior: inner room with 3 axial chamfered beams with hollow step stops, the end
fireplace chamfered; hall with 3 chamfered cross beams with step stops, fireplace
lintel with shallow chamfer. Screens could survive beneath present internal cross-
wall surfaces.
