KINGSTON VILLAGE CENTRE
SX 64 NW

No 1 Bay Cottages

- II

House on corner, attached to smaller unit (not included in the listing). Early
C19. Cement rendered, slate roof. Gable entry at right end, left end concealed
by later addition. Two storeys, 2 windows to main road, 6-pane sashes at ground
floor and 16-pane above; return gable has 16-pane sash at each level, to the
right, and a further 16-pane in an extension at one level. Between these a
casement with slated hood, probably former doorway, and a small light in projec-
ting stair turret. Left is flush panelled door under slated pent hood. Large
gable stack, raised in brick, and smaller stack, similarly raised on left gable
half way up slope. The interior remains largely unaltered, and the whole
remains very representative of early C19 Vernacular work. It was a wheel-
wright's cottage until early C20.
