Barns, probably granaries and haylofts over shippons and stables. Circa mid C19.
Granite rubble with granite dressings. Scantle slate roofs. Tallest barn has gable
ends, next tallest has hipped roof and other barn has half-hipped roof.
Plan: Irregular approximately U-shaped plan. 2 barns adjoin in line, the lower barn
wider; another barn is parallel and is linked to the higher of the 2 barns by a first
floor loft with open shelter under.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Virtually unaltered elevations. Tall barn is probably the
oldest of the group. Its north front has central first floor loading doorway (with
reused C17 chamfered lintel) and 2 slit ventilators at either side. There is a
ground floor doorway towards the right. Rear has first floor loading doorway near
the angle with the link building. Adjoining low barn has single storey integral
outshut at front and rear with loft to the central portion only. Front and rear
elevations each have a central doorway and a window at left and right. East end wall
has central doorway (with loft window over) and doorway at left and right for access
to the outshuts. North front of other barn has 3 ground floor doorways. East end
has altered ground floor openings and original central loading doorway over.
Interior not inspected.
