9/23 Winch House

GV II

Winch House, circa C18. Stone rubble with slurried scantle slate roof, gabled
on north-west towards road and half hipped gable towards sea on south-east.
Brick stack on north-west gable. Situated on beach. 2 storeys, asymmetrical.
openings with large areas of blank wall and rounded corner. South-west side
with large opening on ground floor to left of centre. Winch operated through
opening (powered by motor). 8-pane casement window (12-pane) with 12-pane
casement window on right. Wall curves round to south-east facade where the
central ground floor opening has been partly blocked and a narrow timber door
inserted. Directly above opening has been partly blocked. Rubble stone slip
with cement screed surface continues down towards sea from ground floor opening.
North-west facade: ground floor entrance on left-hand side with small square
opening above. 2 roof lights in south-east slope of roof. Older winch machinery with gothic detailing to north-west of Winch House.
