Group of 4 chest tombs to
G.V. south-east of lych-gate,
Parish Church of St. Swithun's.

4 chest tombs. Late C18th and early C19th. Ashlar. Panelled sides and
moulded cornice. (1) and (2) Fluted pilasters with paterae and decorative
frieze. Inscribed (illegible) panels. (3) 1810. Inscribed panels. (4) Mid-
late C18th. Carved foliage on corner pilasters; decorative frieze; central
oval panel. The chest tombs in Bathford churchyard represent a good and
extensive collection of classical, and traditional local tomb forms and contribute
greatly to the setting of the church.
