SW 83 NE ST JUST IN ROSELAND

Small house. Circa C17/C18 and extended to rear C19. Painted slatestone rubble and
cob walls, dry slate roof probably originally thatched with large external stone
stack to gable end, right. 2 room plan plus small outshut to rear left. 2 storeys.
Irregular 3 window, east front overlooking. Percueil River. Ground floor except to
far left and below second window has battered stone buttressing possibly obscuring
evidence for futher opening to right. Present doorway off-centre to left with C20
boarded door. Wooden lintels. Middle window to first floor is early C19 centre-hung
16-pane 2-light casement. Other windows are 16-pane sashes mostly with horns. Dove
holes under eaves to right. Roof pitch reduced. Rear has blocked first floor
opening possibly originally to light stairs.
Interior is simple with open beams and 1 large fireplace opening. Some
modernisation.
A little altered building in an unspoilt stretch of The Percueil River valley.
