2/46 The Vicarage.

Vicarage: 1898 by Ernest Newton. Hammer-dressed buff sandstone with
ashlar dressing. Kerridge stone-slate roof with 3 stone chimneys.
Free-Tudor style. Rectangular plan of 2 storeys and an attic.
North front: Mixture of 1, 2, 3 or 4 light chamfered stone mullions,
and a 2 and 3-light mullioned and transomed window in upper storey.
Projecting moulded band at 1st floor, and 3-storey element towards
left, under a gable contains the staircase. Solid segmental door hood
to right protects chamfered segmental headed doorcase with a studded
7-board door. Central chimney has a cross under a projecting band and
3 lozenge shaped raised panels.
South front: More ordered pattern to windows. Gabled bay has 3
heart-shaped raised panels.
Interior: Very plain. Staircase has trellis work instead of
balusters. Fire surrounds more Georgian than Tudor.
