Hall house, now house. Early C16, extended and altered C18 and mid C20. Part
timber frame with painted brick infill, part painted brick. Part tile and part
old tile gabled roof. L-plan of 2x2 framed bays with small extensions on north
and east. One and a half and 2 storeys. 2 chimneys on front roof slope and one
on rear, all with clay pots. Entrance (south west) front: irregular. C19 and
C20 casement windows with glazing bars. Extension on left with catslide roof
and small hipped-roof dormer with 2-light window. Two, 3-light windows on
ground floor. Centre section has exposed timber frame, and two, 3-light windows
on ground floor. Central C20 gabled enclosed porch with plank door and
sidelights. One 2-light window to the left of this and one small single light
window on the right. On the right a gable with part timber frame exposed; two
2-light windows on first floor, one similar on ground floor. Interior: two
large inglenook fireplaces with bread ovens. Ground floor joists are chamfered
with run-out stops. Queen post roof trusses, jowled posts and arch braces.
Some sooting on roof timbers.
