Stable block now shop. c1800. Coursed squared magnesian limestone, stone
slate roof. 2 storeys, 1:2:1 bays with 1-storey, 1-bay side wings. Central
2 bays are set forward and have projecting stone sills to C20 casements with
glazing bars beneath flat arches; band pediment with blind oculus in tympanum
and ashlar copings. Outer bays have similar fenestration and eaves band to
hipped roof. Coped wall on left has narrower casement and masks stone-slated
wing (later lean-to not of special interest). To right of central block is a
lower wall with later doorway having glazed door in wooden doorcase beneath
bracketed canopy. Rear: generally as front with blocked ground-floor
windows. 1st floor: door to bay 2, blind windows to outer bays. Pedimented
gable has iron finial. Wing on right has door and casement inserted beneath
a segmental arch. Served Boston House (q.v.) and formerly had blind windows
facing the road.
