2/29 Statue of The Buccaneer
and pedestal
approximately 20 metres
south of The Priory

GV II*

Statue of a buccaneer with pedestal. Early C18, restored c1985. Sculptor
unknown. Restoration by Andrew Naylor. Lead statue, ashlar pedestal.
Overall height approximately 2.60 metres, with lifesize statue. Rectangular
pedestal with moulded base and cornice carries figure of pirate in C18 dress
carrying a barrel on his left hip and a glass in his right hand. Not in
original position. One of a group of early C18 lead statues.
