Description

SD 81 NE WHITWORTH WHITWORTH RAKE

11/261 The Old Parsonage
-
GV II

House, possibly original parsonage, earlier C18, extended, now house.
Coursed sandstone rubble with quoins, tiled roof with chimney at right
gable. Single-depth 2-bay end-baffle-entry plan, with added bay set
back to left, single storey original porch set back at right end. Two
storeys; inserted doorway offset left of centre, to left one 3-light
window on each floor with chamfered mullions, to right a stepped triple-
light window with chamfered surround and mullions and above this a
similar but smaller window with apparently raised sill. Masonry at
1st floor is different and larger, suggesting that walls have been raised.
Extension to left in similar materials is probably modern. Single-storey
porch to right has stepped triple-light window, modern flat-roofed
forward extension to left. Rear has 2-light fire window.
