TQ 85 NE (west side)

1/271 Blacksmith's Cottage
GV II
House. C15 and late C20. Tilmber-framed, rendered, with plain tile
roof. Wealden of 2 roughly equal bays and storeyed bay to left
end. C20 applied studding. Left end jetty underbuilt but formerly
returned to left. Solid bracket beneath central tie, one original
and one C20 brace to flying wall-plate. Brick stack to left end
and multiple brick ridge stack towards right end. Irregular
fenestration of two 3-light wood casements. Large C20 rendered
porch with C20 boarded door to left end of hall. C20 brick buttresses
to right gable end. Interior: Exposed timbers, moulded dais
beam with close-studded partition beneath, fireplace with moulded
stone jambs, moulded crown-post.
