House. Late C16 with later alterations and additions. Rubble, thatched roof
with ridge stack and gable stack to right, rear wing rendered with double Roman
tiled roof. Through passage plan. l 1/2 storeys, ground floor has 2-light
casement to left, 3-light and single light to right, all C20, central door with
raised fillets, scratched on door "Thanks be to God" and RWB/1796, chamfered
pointed arched wooden frame, 2-light casement in eyebrow dormer to right. Right
return has oven projecting and timber member across wall above, small single
light at first floor right, roof-possibly raised, line in stonework in gable;
attached to rear right a 1 1/2 storey addition with single and 3-light casement to
right. Left return has two 2-light C20 casements at ground floor and one at
first floor. Rear of main house has 2-light casement and door, small 2-light
eyebrow dormer above door, small flat-roofed C20 addition in angle to left with
plate-glass window, rear block has 3-light C20 casement at ground and first floor
to inner side, to rear a C20 French window and 2-light casement under eaves.
Interior: passage has heavy chamfered and stopped beam to left, door to left in
chamfered frame with pointed segmental head (possibly reset), door to right in
plain frame; room to right has heavy lintel to end fireplace with oven recess to
rear, beam as in passage placed centrally in room, possibly indicating originally
unheated; room to left has similar beams, fireplace (to ridge stack) with deep-
chamfered lintel and mantel, replacement winder stair behind door to rear of room.
