2/17 The Cottage

II

House. Probably mid Cl8 with late C19 alterations. Dressed sandstone, old
pantiled roof and two brick stacks. 2-storey, 3-bay front has alternate quoins;
central 4-panel, Cl9 door with monolithic jambs and lintel; blocked doorway to
extreme left. Four 4-pane sashes with raised sills and flat arches of dressed
stone. Central, blank bay above doorway. Slightly-swept, moderately-pitched
roof has raised verge to right and double row of sandstone flags at eaves.
Rebuilt ridge and right gable stacks.
