6/17 Romford Mill Cottage

Detached cottage. Probably C17 origin, altered in C18. Main walls brick, but
timber framed with brick infill in right gable, i.e, brick may be a rebuild of
original timber framed house. Evidence of roof having been raised. Tiled
roof with crested ridge, one brick stack at left end, 2 storeys. Plat band at
first floor level. Part glazed door in open timber porch with shallow gabled
roof. Ground and first floors each have 2 plain casements - those on ground
floor under segmental arches. Lean-to extension at right end, with walls part
brick, part timber framed, and corrugated roof. Small weatherboarded lean-to
at left end, with corrugated roof. Internally, main ground floor room has
open fireplace with timber lintel. Deep chamfered ceiling beams. (R.C.H.M.
